Yanos
Bouzioukos was born in Athens. He studied at the Vakalo School of Decorative Arts (1972-1975) under the tuition
of the master P.Tetsis, from where he graduated with Distinction. He subsequently won a
scholarship to study at Central St.Martin’s School of Art and Design in
London (1975-1976) under the tuition of Anthony Attenborough and at the West
Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education, School of Art, in Swansea, Wales
(1976-1978). While professors Timothy Lewis, Marjory Walters and Ludwig Shaffrath mentored his progress, Yanos specialized and gained distinction for studies in Contemporary Glass
Techniques. In 1978 Bouzioukos was awarded the Howard Martin Design Award by
Lawrence Lee, Member of the Royal Academy of London. The same year he
was elected a Diploma Member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers
of London, which is incorporated in the Royal Charter.
In 1985 the
French Institute of Athens, awarded Yanos Bouzioukos for his poster, designed
for the European Year of Music.
Bouzioukos
lectured on Contemporary Glass Techniques at the West Glamorgan Institute,
Wales, Great Britain (1979) and was Guest Lecturer at the Glass Department,
Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, Australia (1991). He has
earned a distinction for the quality of his work aboard (Europe and Australia) as
well as in Greece.
He later taught
Contemporary Glass Techniques and Stained Glass at the Vakalo School of Art and
Design, Athens, Greece (1998-2001) as well as at Sydney College, in Rozelle, Sydney (2012).
Being a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts, Greece, he has been cited in the
Dictionary of Greek Artists (Melissa Publications) volume C.
To date, he has
presented his work in 9 personal and 28 group exhibitions in Greece and Abroad.
